Of course, it should be the choice of the pregnant woman whether or not she aborts the foetus within her womb. The choice she makes, either way, will have lifelong consequences. She has many things that need to be taken into account: Her current life situation, her future prospects, her maturity, her feelings, and maybe even her homework.
We can all walk into that kind of situation, voice our opinion on the woman and walk out of the frame, with no interest in the backstory and no concern for the future. We do not have to live with the decision made if she follows our views. We do not have to struggle with the new situation. In fact, we get to continue our life as it was before, in our little world of ‘moral high ground’, blind to the misery we may inflict with our pretentious ‘good deeds’.
‘Morally superior’ people, who see a snapshot of a person’s life and judge these women who do abort to be evil or murderers, should be more consistent. It is one thing to say that all life is sacred and a gift from God and then, in the same breath, to condemn a fellow human being who, one would assume, is equally sacred. If only these do-gooders would focus their judgement on themselves instead of others.
Bottom line: Abortion is just another personal life choice. If you are not faced with the situation then mind your own business.
