There are a variety of over the counter (OTC) treatments you can find in your local pharmacy that can clear acne fast. The side effects of these treatments include, drying of skin, scaling and redness.
Benzoyl Peroxide works by killing bacteria that cause acne, it comes in dosages ranging from 2.5 to 10%. Like almost all OTC treatments it helps remove oil and dead skill cells to clear acne fast.
Salicylic Acid is a drying agent that prevents pores from clogging, it is available in strengths, ranging from 0.5-5%.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids are a synthetic form of acid, that come from sugar-containing fruit. In addition to removing dead skin cells, and reducing inflammation, they stimulate new skin growth for refreshed, smother skin and scar reduction.
Sulfur containing products are a tad smelly, and are usually mixed with one of the other OTC ingredients to clear acne fast.
It might sound counter-intuitive that any oil can be used to treat acne. However, Coconut Oil contains Laurin and Caprylic acid and possesses antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. As with OTC treatments, less is more. Take a Q-tip and dab a tiny bit on the affected area once or twice a day, it can really help clear acne fast. In addition, add coconut oil to your diet, cook with it occasionally by adding it to your stir-fry’s, put a tablespoon into your smoothie, for a light sweet flavor, or spread some on toast or your morning croissant.
Honey is the latest trend in wound healing and is used medically to promote healing of skin. It is a natural disinfectant, killing bacteria and reducing swelling. Honey is great for your skin, is a natural humectant and doesn’t have some of the side effects of drying your skin that OTC products have. Honey might be sticky and messy, but making a honey mask and leaving it set for ten minutes, then rinsing with warm water can really help you clear acne fast.
